Contemporary and GCSE Dance
Our Contemporary Classes span 3 ages, Junior, Inter and Senior.
They are non-syllabus classes that explore all sorts of styles within this genre. This includes partner work, creating dances and performance opportunities on a regular basis.
GCSE dance is a one-year intensive course with a minimum level of Grade 4 Ballet and a taster/audition style class to see if this is something the students want to commit to.
LWAD is fully accredited to AQA and has had 100% pass rate. We run this course every other year and will take entries from September 2024 please email belinda@lwad.co.uk to express an interest. You don’t need to be studying with LWAD to join this course but we would ask you to make any other teacher aware that you are dancing with us too.
If you want more information about the GCSE course it is 60% practical and 40% written. There are 2 set phrases , a group piece and a piece of your own choreography. These are all filmed and marked in the school and then sent to AQA to be moderated. The written paper we travel to a school in Coventry where we collaborate on the exam procedure. We take applicants from years 9 and above so is often their first GCSE.
